i know of many staff for both clubs that get free bungalows and mobile homes to live in ,whilst parking caravans and motorhomes nearby,
If the Revenue inspected the business, as they do others, do you think they would be happy with a gift of £1000 per month( market rent, council tax, water gas and elec) being given to an employee without it being declared as a benefit in kind.....esp as the employee has a perfectly good unit outside.......also parked for free!
The IR inspectors are not known for a sense of humour

I would be quite happy to live off site on a small CL or CS near the site you could go home on your lunch breaks and no more bell on the night time . I know who would loose out if we lived off site. The call outs would pay for the CL or CS.
Lets face it the staff pitches for the CCC sites are not that good anyway.
You can't pull a sick day when you live on site but if we lived off site who knows lol

If we lived off site.
Who would do the late and early toilet checks
Who would lock and open the gates
Who would answer the bell 24hrs a day
Who would check in late arrivals
Who would deal with contractors that turn up early in the morning
Who would do the 24hrs a day security
What do we get for doing the above a free pitch , use of the campsite showers and washer. We have solar panels and a shower in the van so I’m getting a hardstanding pitch + the use of a washer that is full of dog hairs or shower curtains and cleaning cloths for 24 hr cover .
Fogot to say we don’t get a choice of how long our contracts are what hours we work or in what area we work.

Reading the posts above it seems you cannot rely on HQ or the tax man to have any compassion. What they see is the bottom line...no arguing ! Weve seen that HQ will do the dirty on us at the first opportunity and still we roll over deluding ourselves we are somehow valued by the "club" . Next season we have to wake up..it may be a bit uncomfortable but from the start we have to ask for legal and fair treatment. The sooner this is tackled on site the sooner the poison might be drawn out of the rotas imposed. If you are working at 7pm checking people in and serving in the shop and resetting leccy points this is work not standby and you should be paid...if something is mumbled about giving you time back later dont let it go at that ,keep a record of "overtime" and ask for it back every month. The sooner you start the sooner the rows will be had and the sooner it will be start to change

You have all missed the point.....
I notice that every thread seems to run into a bitch about working conditions..... most people in society have to pay their rent, council tax, water, tv licence, mortgage/rent, utilities and laundry...... I guess dog hairs come free so that probably equates to an extra bonus lol.
Renting a small house would cost approx. £1000 per month as a minimum figure (all in) i.e £12000 per year).
We do not pay tax on rent etc. so that amount equates to approximately £15000 per year prorated. In addition as a couple we receive approx. £15500 prorated. Not the greatest salary ever but definitely better than living on a CL which would increase your expense by approx £4000 per year (dog hairs not included).
We are all better off living in our caravans and motorhomes plus not having to commute to and from work more than makes up for the odd call out.
However....... we should not be sold short when it comes to a so called increase in pay..... we should not have to subsidise the 'living wage' by taking a cut elsewhere.... the ccc is not doing us a favour by implementing the living wage merely complying with the law.
Tax relief on our units will not attract retribution from the taxman as speculated by earlier commentators and as stated I will post any information once HMRC have got back to me...... FYI I was claiming for my unit prior to working for the ccc.
Personally I think the implementation of the £7.20 could be better organised and that HSAs should have the same opportunity as HSMs with regard to working on more lucrative sites (rewarded as such). I also feel that man/woman management needs to be brought into the 21st century where hard work is rewarded and those swinging the lead are supported to increase their productivity.

OMG - moan moan moan. Been doing this job years and the number of people who think it's camping with a bit of work never fails to astonish me. It's a way of life - don't want to be part of a team / don't like odd hours / helping out when problems arise / want a set lunch break to eat your sandwich then don't work on a camp site. Standby is rota'd for those on late shift and only means you're sitting in your unit watching TV as normal but that you might need to deal with somebody who needs help. Do you bother to work out how many hours you don't work when it's raining or been raining and it's too wet or cold to mow or do painting or gardening and you've been sat in your awning. Whydoidoit is 100% right - if you add up what the tax man could take then you'd be hard hit. Read the new pay structure properly and you'll see nobody will earn less than they currently do if their new contract is for the same number of hours. If you think that you can be assistants for 1 season and then have all the knowledge and experience you need to be managers you're very very sadly mistaken. Can you deal with a site evacuation when flooding happens ? Can you deal with a fire / medical emergency or god forbid a death on site - probably not without the help of your colleagues. Spare a thought too for the site managers who don't have staff for 8 weeks at the start and 6 - 8 weeks at end of the season - don't you think they'd like a few extra hours off ? Like I said at the start read the job description properly and then decide if you want to live this life - if not go and work for one of the big retail companies who couldn't give a fig whether or not you can live on what they pay.

It's a way of life are you joking ( site managers who don't have staff for 8 weeks at the start and 6 - 8 weeks ) but they can still go off site to restock the shop or mayme change the HSA days off or who take every weekend off.
What about the site manager who got the sack for ordering cleaning products for another site
What about the managers who sent HSA's to clean toilets and then did a runner
What about the manager who got demoted for bullying staff

OMG - here we go again - DO NOT TAR EVERY MANAGER WITH THE SAME BRUSH !!!!!! We have never expected any member of our team to do something we weren't prepared to do - we also make sure that any profit from shop etc is shared with our team members - in fact CC make it part of their wardens contract they HAVE to I believe ? ALL the money donated to our flower fund is used on site for plants etc. not for topping up a winter trip abroad. Yes I've been to purchase shop stock during working hours - yes I've changes rotas this season so that staff can have a weekend off (strangely tho it wasn't for me it was for a colleague to attend a family party and then later on a family wedding ?! If you're telling me you've never been told to work out of your unit when the weather has been bad then I genuinely feel sorry for all those who have had the misfortune to work with unprofessional managers regardless of which club you work for - BUT and it's a big BUT - if you behave on site and back stab and nit pick the way you do on this forum then maybe you deserve everything you get. Have the guts to put your GENUINE grievances in writing - don't just moan about it on this forum - follow the procedures both clubs have for such things. Why would you moan about serving a camper with gas - if it were one of your family and they had a young child and the gas was to heat up food would you moan - no you wouldn't so stop jumping on the bandwagon - like I said before if you don't like the job then do us all a favour and leave - I wouldn't want some of the "contributors" that use this forum working with me that's for sure.

No whinging here m8 Just received my T&C for next year from the Club. Main points are
1, I will be paid over the new living wage for all hours worked(2nd and 3 rd years still get a "responsibility allowance") 2, Its TYPED IN BOLD in the contract that all shop profits are to be shared and its to be put in writing at start of season 3 You can be off site when on call out and the office is closed and your call out payment will still be paid.(club to provide a mob number for 999 style emergencies to site members and guests) 4 The clubs generous pension is continuing with the club topping your monthly tax free contibutions up to 15% of your income

AHH Seems that a previous post has turned up a root cause of many site problems.
"We have never expected any member of our team to do something we weren't prepared to do "
Oh ive met this situation a few times...without firm and fair rules correctly implemented from a good regional manager who is on the ball its so easy for managers/wardens to simply say ...."well we all do it so you must too" or first years are told its "whats always been done" Gullible new managers/wardens are particularity prone to this disease esp if the regional managers needs to squeeze some more blood out of the stone to make his figures look good back in the ivory tower
