Thanks for emailing all the club sites - I have now read this site I have a few things to say;
This forum is incredibly destructive.
If you are really that bitter about your job and have no satisfaction from it anymore, GET OUT, GO AND DO SOMETHING ELSE! No one is forcing you to stay! If you want the perfect job, with the perfect employer, why aren't you there?
Have you ever thought about the impact you have on campers, other site staff, your spouse/partner because you haven't got anything positive to say and are miserable, how do you think that affects them?
The rumour mill is exactly what it is titled..........keep your noses out, it's none of your business. Really, have you nothing better to do? Think how it would make you feel if you were the subject of a posting? A quick read of trip advisor and other reviews about your sites or you would remind you of how much it could upset you!
Man up and have the conversation with the people that can help and stop hiding behind a forum. Get constructive.
For some people, this is a great job and way of life, yes, you have to work hard, yes, there are frustrations, yes, it's physical, and yes you need a brain. If you think you are not "qualified" (which means mainly common sense and experience) to do the job, maybe you should step down if you can't cope. Either deal with it or get out and let the people who enjoy it do the job without all of the negativity.

Ah! The optimism of first years It gladdens the heart of us long serving staff to see such enthusiasm.
Ill tackle only one issue raised, that of the effect on campers . Ive read all the campsite reviews placed on this forum by a member in Scotland and they seem positive not"destructive"
As for recommending Tripadvisor ....i asked my Niece and she poo-pooed its as "corporate fueled guff".Whilst she is a little bolshie and modern in these matters i tend to go along with here on matters Web based.
Voltaire also said,
"It is hard to free fools from the chains they revere."

Ill set the scene shall I.
Its a small dusty courtroom near to where the accident happened, gathered together are the HSA ,representatives of the major club who employed the staff member charged , "no -win -no fee" solicitors representing the staff members charged
After the Judge recalls the events of the day, " the staff member reversed over a small child whilst cutting grass around their tent". the Major clubs solicitors stands up to deliver his defense which is.
Our staff members are "qualified" (which means mainly common sense and experience) to do the job,"
After the judge had stopped laughing all you could hear was the sound of the claimants solicitor's finger on his calculator adding a "0" to his claim for damages

This must be a post by someone from either HR or senior manager level at H/O. What a self important knob!
It is a good job on many levels, and he's right we do work hard. Harder than the campers realise, and certainly harder than either clubs H/O staff realise, or want to acknowledge. The phrase "it's a way of life" is usually one banded about when your salary and conditions fall below what anyone would accept in "normal" paid employment. Who in their former "real life employment" would put up with customers or clients calling round at their home when the office/shop is closed for the day asking for a bottle of milk or LPG? Who would accept having to turn out at up to 23.00 just because some daft sod can't understand that they can't drive from Cornwall to North of Glasgow in 6 hours and then be expected to greet said town with a smile and a cheery "Welcome to .......". Oh and do it for nowt!
We all learn fairly quickly that the job isn't digging coal for a living but by the same token we all realise that our employers, both clubs especially, don't give a monkeys' chuff for how we are getting on, our wage levels or hours worked. Many of us work with reduced breaks, interrupted meals, broken sleep patterns, rest time below what is legally acceptable in industry and road transport, hours of work not paid for and, certainly at the C&CC, levels of health & safety, training and personal protective equipment not seen in industry since the mid 70's!
So yes some of us get on here and have a moan and bitch about life. I bet even the Disciples complained about the hours and serving all that fish! sometimes a few comments perhaps cross the line into personal abuse and comment, but hey that's life. There's nothing being said on here that isn't said when we are at work!
So Pffft, have you never ever bitched about a colleague or employer? Oh and do you not think it's ironic that you come on here and have a go at people for coming on here and having a go at people! Grow up!

HERE HERE !!
Its seems a "disconnect" has developed between the long term members working for the club and the long term members who stay at sites .This "blockage " is the NON MEMBERS employed by ( don't forget we are a club) us.
Whilst it may be necessary to employ these hired-guns the time has come perhaps for a CULL ,perhaps the various executive committees should grow some balls and wrestle back control of our clubs. Yes both clubs should be run competently and along financially sensible lines ,but...and its a huge BUTT.... they should be run by members for members ( both staying and working at sites)
